Discover Places to Go and Things to Do
|
Family travel brings a lot of fun to the whole family. The good news is that planning for a family trip is no longer exhausting and challenging. With good trip planning, everyone in the family can all have way more fun on the next trip.
Posted in these pages are family travel tips that we have collected over the last year from very experienced and well-traveled (and even globe-trotting) moms and dads. Read through their itineraries and stories, and benefit from their experiences. Find out what worked for them and learn from what did not. You can also find a lot of travel information especially tailored for families by clicking on the Links and the blogs posted in this site. Below is one of our all-time favorite tips/anecdote for families who go on camping trips:
Before going to bed, we placed some mud we brought along to fill a few holes in the ground. We wanted to see what type of animal visitors came over while we were sleeping. We ended up with the best home-made souvenirs and it aroused the curiosity of the kids to find more wildlife, and to take notice of their environment throughout the trip.

Feel free to read and take in as many tips as possible. The more ideas, the better. Then jibe all those that you find most beneficial for your family travel. Once you are done reading through the tips, we suggest searching for trips that other families have taken. Find one that matches the destination you wish to visit and your traveling preferences by clicking the Save As Your Own option. Better yet, have a blast changing the itinerary to customize the trip to fit you! Why start from scratch when others have already taken the time to plan an itinerary, one that you can easily mold and modify to your schedule? By crossing out the ones you are not interested in and are not appropriate for your family, or dragging and dropping activities, restaurants or destinations into other days or even in a different order, you will save a lot of precious time (all the while silently thanking the other family for making it so easy for you).
However, if you cannot find a previously taken trip that matches your criteria or standards, then we can help you Create A Trip. You will, in effect, be baking the cake from scratch instead of using the packaged mixes. It will take more time, but then, you will have more fun discovering activities that catch your whimsy. Besides, once you get to the end-result, you cannot help but give yourself a little kudos for doing it all by yourself. Searching for Things To Do in every city opens up new horizons for you to explore. Imagining the possibilities is – simply put – fun!
Whether you choose to adapt another family's previous itinerary or build a new one on your own, know that planning is the key ingredient for a wonderful (and successful) family vacation. Having an itinerary in hand builds excitement as everyone looks forward to actually experience the family travel plans you have built together.
